Directions:Buffalo Gap Camp is located in Capon Bridge, West Virginia, a small town about 30 miles west of Winchester, Virginia, off of U.S. Route 50. In non-rush-hour traffic the trip takes about 2 hours from the DC or Baltimore area. West Virginia Road Map in PDF Format. WARNING: Please, obey the speed limit in Capon Bridge. From Washington DC: Take I-66 west to its end, and take exit 1B. Bear right onto I-81 going north. Continue on I-81 about 10 miles to the bypass around Winchester. Take the exit that reads "37N to 50W" and goes toward Romney and Berkeley Springs. At the end of the exit ramp turn left on Route 37 north. Continue on Route 37 about 10 miles and exit at Route 50. Turn left onto Route 50 going west toward Romney. Continue from Route 50 west below. From the South: Take I-81 north to the bypass around Winchester. Take the exit that reads "37N to 50W" and goes toward Romney and Berkeley Springs. At the end of the exit ramp turn left on Route 37 north. Continue on Route 37 about 10 miles and exit at Route 50. Turn left onto Route 50 going west toward Romney. Continue from Route 50 west below. From the North: Take I-81 south and exit just north of Winchester at Martinsburg Park Road south (U.S. Route 11 south). Watch for sign that says State Route 37 (Winchester bypass) and bear right on 37. Follow it south and exit at US Route 50 west. At the Route 50 exit, turn right on 50 (west). Continue from Route 50 west below. From Route 50 at Winchester: Follow Route 50 west for about 22 miles to Capon Bridge, West Virginia. The road becomes two lanes, and goes up, then down a hill and into the town. Go through the town and cross the blue bridge (over the Cacapon River) and almost immediately turn right onto State Route 15 (Springfield Grade Road), toward Edwards Run Wildlife Management Area. Continue from Capon Bridge below. From the West: Take I-68 to Cumberland. Follow Route 28 south to Romney. At Romney go east on Route 50 to Capon Bridge. Just before the blue bridge over the Cacapon River, take a left turn onto State Route 15 (Springfield Grade Road), toward Edwards Run Wildlife Management Area. Continue from Capon Bridge below. From Capon Bridge: Take State Route 15, Springfield Grade Rd, for about 4 miles. The road starts to wind and climb. Watch for a sign on your left with a picture of a buffalo that says "Buffalo Gap Camp." Turn left and follow this road for about 1/2 mile. Bear right into the camp’s driveway at the second "Buffalo Gap Camp" sign and go about 100 feet to the parking lot. You’re there. Dark Blessings.
